It is commonly called BWI or BWI Airport, its IATA Airport Code, an initialism for "Baltimore/Washington International". The airport is located in Linthicum, Maryland, about 10 miles (16 km) south of Baltimore and 30 miles (48 km) north of Washington, D.C.
